Web Links and Updates
The press release announcing this book is here.
- Christians on the Internet (COIN) is
an association to promote the use of the Internet and other electronic communication
media by Churches, Christian Organisations and individuals. None of the co-authors
is a member of Coin but we'd be delighted to have their comments for improvements
on this book.
- The Church Computer Users Group
is an independent and non-denominational charitable body. Total membership
is now approaching two thousand, and current Patron is the Archbishop of Canterbury.
A leading member of CCUG has suggested links to his essays here.
He hopes to get us some comments from the CCUG executive in due course.
- The book has stimulated the production of an 'interesting' tract
by Brian Reid for the Society of Archbishop
Justus. Brian was evidently peeved that he was not consulted about Cybernauts
Awake, and wrote an idiotic review which managed to be grossly defamatory
without actually making any specific criticisms of the book at all. Subsequent
email attempts to get real feedback show that he has no contributions to make
in this area, and his tract, whilst not containing too many technical errors
(he is an Internet old-timer) totally fails to grasp the ethical significance
of cyberspace. See our comments here.
We plan to add additional links and possibly updates from time to time.
If you have any ideas or suggestions please email nb@ starcourse.org.
At present most of the emailed contributions are in the debate page - with
their suggested links.
Updates
Some alert correspondents have spotted errors (which we have changed with acknowledgments)
or offered addenda. Thanks - we really welcome contributions to improve this
work. They are being incorporated into the second printing.
- Gervaise pointed out that we have
misworded our description of copyleft
- A correspondent to Ship of Fools pointed out that we'd got the example wrong
in Implications for Information Technologists.
- We've noticed a small misprint in Implications
for Christians.
- A corespondent has sent a helpful essay on Considerations
for the Internet Author as Evangelist which we
have posted (at her request) as an interesting contribution to the debate.
(Also thanks to Elizabeth for the logo
and for improving the color scheme on this site).
