Ideas that work for Churches in the H&F DeaneryOn this page you will find ideas that work for various churches, sorted in the following categories |

Child | StAndrews | Integrated Childrens Group: Just before the sermon the children go out to the Childrens Group, where they learn and do activities related to the themes of the day's reading. They then come back for the Peace (just before communion). This way they don't get bored/disruptive but they (and the Group Leaders) can still play as full as possible a role in the worship. |

Comm | StAndrews | Ministry Sunday: On an electroral roll of about 70 we have 50 people signed up to minister in some way in the Church, whether by Reading, Worship Leading, Interceding, Cleaning, Flower Arranging, Childrens Group or whatever. Once a year on 'Ministry Sunday' all the lists are started again, empty, and people can just sign up. This gets away from '(s)he always does this so I didn't think it was my place'. |
Funds | St Simons | Annual gift day: we only ask people for money once a year. We send everyone a leaflet explaining our financial needs for the coming year, and the best (tax efficient) ways of giving. There is a response form which people use to pledge what they hope to give in the coming year. We send it a month before the gift day. Each Sunday before the Gift day we encourage people to set time aside to think and pray about how much they should give. On the day everyone walks forward and places their envelope into the offering plate. Next Sunday we announce the total pledged for the coming year. Everyone is amazed and excited at each others' (and God's) generosity. The covenant secretary then follows up all those who want to start covenants or use gift aid. |

P&W | StAndrews | Adult Choir: The adults singers who are available take communion first and then sing an anthem as a scratch choir. This means we get a choir together without the burden of choir practices which put people off. |
